As he says in his preface, deSilva has updated some paragraphs, rewritten others, taken some things out, expanded some sections . Description. A volume in the St. Joseph Bible Resources series from Catholic Book Publishing, New Testament Introduction provides an entry-level contemporary study of the New Testament in a concise and accessible format. In 32 pages, this fully illustrated book outlines the history, literature, religion, and teachings of the Christian Scriptures.

So it is with a wave of relief and delight that we look and realize that the whole New Testament comes in the form of stories and letters. The first five books (Gospels and Acts), which are the New Testament's "historical" section, differ drastically from history in school. An Introduction to the New Testament focuses on "special introduction" that is historical questions dealing with authorship, date, sources, purpose, destination, and so forth.

This New Testament Introduction is a monster volume that is exhaustive in its content. Guthrie's book is considered by many scholars (i.e. Carson, Wilbur Smith, etc.) to be one of, if not the best Introduction to the New Testament texts available.
